Brenda started with the College in October 1993 at the Downtown Campus as an administrative assistant II in the television production department. “With the exception of one month at the Deerwood Center, when the television production department transferred there, Downtown Campus has been my home campus.”
Now, as the administrative assistant III for the Downtown Campus president, Brenda is in a unique position since her job allows her the advantage of connecting with all areas of the campus. Under the direction of the campus president, her duties include working closely with the campus president on various projects, committees and daily office duties. Under the direction and request of the campus president and director of administrative services, she is involved in the process of ordering the campus office furniture, equipment, computers and other supplies needed for maintaining and allowing for the smooth operation of the campus.
Since all three of her sons are adults now, working with the youth at her church in a theatrical group gives Brenda a chance to act in a mentoring roll. “It’s important to listen to what our young people have to say and also to help create ways for them to express their feelings.” This gives her a chance to help direct and encourage these kids to “follow their dreams, become productive citizens and to give back to their community.”
Regina Walker Harris’s career with the College began in May of 2001 as an instructional office coordinator for the executive dean at the Downtown Campus. In 2002, Regina was transferred to the Downtown Campus president’s office as the executive secretary until 2005. Regina left the college in March of 2005 for a brief period. In January 2008, Regina returned to FCCJ as the administrative assistant II for the Downtown Campus President.
One of Regina’s key responsibilities as the campus president’s personal assistant is to make sure the president’s calendar is scheduled properly, a difficult task in its self. Regina also works closely with students making sure their concerns or problems are handled in a timely and professional manner.
In her spare time, Regina enjoys spending time with her three children, two sons and one daughter ages 22, 19 and 16. She also enjoys spending time with her fourteen nieces and nephews, which includes one great- nephew and two great- nieces, who all refer to her as “Auntie Jeannie”. Regina makes sure their needs and wants are taken care of, whether it’s cooking their favorite meal, which she enjoys, or spending time at the beach. She basically enjoys spending quality time with her family and close friends.
