Essay Study Guide is not designed to replace your composition text, but rather to address the problems you might have when writing timed essays. It contains three parts:
- Part I. The first part reviews general strategies for writing the CLAST essay and then takes you step-by-step through the process of applying sample topics:

- Planning and prewriting the essay
- Developing the essay
- Revising and proofreading the essay
- Part II. The second part provides sample student essays with an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each.
- Part III. The third part provides two additional essay samples to give you more practice in writing essays.
