Essay Study Guide is not designed to replace your composition text, but rather to address the problems you might have when writing timed essays. It contains three parts:

  • Part I. The first part reviews general strategies for writing the CLAST essay and then takes you step-by-step through the process of applying sample topics:
    1. Selecting and organizing the topic
    2. Planning and prewriting the essay
    3. Developing the essay
    4. Revising and proofreading the essay
  • Part II. The second part provides sample student essays with an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each.
  • Part III. The third part provides two additional essay samples to give you more practice in writing essays.
