What are PEP assessments?
The Florida Community College Proficiency
Exam Program (PEP) is an Florida Community College-developed assessment
program for awarding credit for prior learning and experience
to Florida Community College students. By successfully completing
a PEP assessment, you are awarded a grade of A, B, or C on your
transcript in the subject for which you are assessed. The good
news is that unsuccessful assessment scores are not recorded on
your transcript!
Florida Community College students
may take as many PEP assessments as they like. Sixteen of the
PEP assessments are offered by appointment on each campus (see
Note 1 and Note 2) on the list of PEP Assessments. The remaining
PEP assessments are offered three times per year as follows:
| October 12, 2007 |
November 12. 2007 |
| January 11, 2008 |
February 11, 2008 |
| May 16, 2008 |
June 16, 2008 |
| October 17, 2008 |
November 10, 2008 |
In order to register for a PEP
assessment administered by appointment,
contact the assessment and certification nearest you. Prior to
taking the PEP, you will need to complete a registration form
and pay the registration fee at the campus business office. Some
PEP assessments also require program manager approval prior to
payment and testing.
For PEP assessments administered three
times per year, visit the assessment
and certification center nearest you before the registration deadline.
You will complete a registration form and pay the registration
fee during this visit. About one week before the assessment week,
an appointment date and time will be made for an examiner or faculty
member to administer the assessment to you.
There are almost 100
PEP assessments available in a variety of subject areas. More
assessments are added each year because of our commitment to assist
you in reaching your career goals as quickly as possible.
The PEP assessments cover the same
content found in the equivalent Florida Community College course.
The best place to start in preparing for a PEP exam is to obtain
a course outline and to review the textbook used in the course.
Course outlines are available at the Florida
Community College curriculum Web page and course textbooks
may be purchased in any campus bookstore.
Your results are mailed to you
about four weeks after you take the assessment.
