What is the Study Behavior Inventory?

The Study Behavior Inventory (SBI) is a 46 item diagnostic and prescriptive survey — the result of more than ten years of research, development and refinement. It is offered at no charge to assist students in their academic success at Florida Community College Kent Campus. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.

What is assessed by the Study Behavior Inventory? You will receive scores on three generic factors that are key to academic success:
  1. Short-term Study Behaviors:
Preparing for day-to-day routine tasks such as reviewing class notes and completing assigned readings.
  2. Long-term Study Behaviors:
Carrying out specific long-range academic tasks such as completing projects, writing papers or preparing for final exams.
  3. Academic Confidence: Reporting affective factors that influence perception of self and confidence in the academic environment.
What else is assessed by the SBI?

The SBI also provides you with information on eight specific areas relating to academic success.
  1. Time Management
  2. Study Reading
  3. General Study Habits
  4. Listening-Notetaking
  5. Writing
  6. Test Anxiety
  7. Test-Taking
  8. Faculty Relations
And based upon your personal profile on these eight behaviors, attitudes and skills, you will receive a report referring you to the appropriate Florida Community College Kent Campus support services and over 50 Learning Café workshops.
