What is WorkKeys?

WorkKeys utilizes the Keys2Work database which is a state-of-the-art recruiting and career exploration system for students and job seekers.

How does it work?

As a recruiting system, Keys2Work automatically connects you with local participating employers looking for individuals with your skills and interest.

As a career exploration system, Keys2Work gives you the latest information on how your skills match those needed in a wide range of occupations, and gives you access to occupational information from the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET database.

How do I participate?

Students will take three WorkKeys assessments which measure academic skills, but in a way that is applied and practical to the workplace. The emphasis is the application of knowledge to practical, workplace situations. The measured skills are required by all jobs, from entry-level positions to white-collar professionals.

OK, I've taken the WorkKeys assessment, now what?

Once you have taken the WorkKeys assessment, your Work Keys skill levels, along with your career interests, and individual information, are maintained in the Keys2Work database. Your information will be matched against the needs of local employers who are using Keys2Work to identify qualified job candidates.

“You've Got Matches”

You can find a list of all job matches made in your “You've Got Mail” mailbox on the Keys2Work website. When you receive a job message, you can find out more about the responsibilities, requirements, and salary. If you are interested in a job, you can often apply online.

Advantages of Keys2Work

The advantage of Keys2Work is that once you are in the database, local jobs come to you, saving you the time and effort of having to check newspaper ads and Web sites to find a job. It's like having a personal placement officer working for you without having to lift a finger!
