Adult Studies Resources and Lab

The Adult Studies Lab offers students the chance to improve their basic skill levels in Math, Reading, English and GED. The Adult Studies Lab has a series of self-paced computer tutorial programs that will enhance students’ skill levels. If students like, they may receive one-on-one tutoring as well as help navigating the computer programs.

Internet Resources
GED Interactive - All Internet based.  Accompanies the McGraw-Hill Contemporary Interactive GED.  Choose a subject from the purple navigation bar to access chapter outlines, vocabulary flashcards, quizzes and web links for Reading, Social Studies, Writing, Science and Math. Also has a practice test.

4 Tests.com - Free online practice exams. Five subject area tests and a chart showing the time scheduled for each part of the GED Test. 
PBS Literacy Link - Registration is free. Has test-taking tips, Learner Resources (links), Pre-GED information also.  Thirty-nine modules and subject tests.
Free-Ed.Net - Has 74 study units completed as no charge online class doing 3 units per month. E-mail and chat rooms connect classmates and instructor. Classes start monthly.

The Internet Public Library - Links, links and more links!! Wonderful site arranged by subjects; Reference information, books and magazines online, special areas for kids and teens.
My Skills Tutor – (Home or Learning Center access) provides Internet interactive help with reading, language, math, writing, science, and study skills. Students may ask any Learning Center tutor to enter them into the program. After students are entered into the system, they may access this extensive program from any Internet connected computer.
Mastery Reading Tests – provides help in three levels of reading and vocabulary skills. Self registering
Writing Tutor IV – improves the individual's writing style with grammar and sentence structure help. Self registering
Math Pro – provides assistance in elementary algebra, intermediate algebra and intermediate algebra including graphing. Self registering
GED and Pre GED - provide practice tests, instruction in all areas of the tests, and skills practice in each area. See any Adult studies coordinator to be registered in these programs.
English Grammar - This web site is very detailed in all aspects of writing. Whether it is ENC 0001, 0021, 1101, or 1102, this site covers, in detail, the three main levels of writing: sentence, paragraph, and essay. Punctuation and actual development (i.e. brainstorming) are all addressed. A good site for individuals beginning their writings. Great search engine!
Math - extensive site with explanations, formulae, and examples of math including basic, algebra, trig, and calculus
Academic Resources Core Links - Ken Foster's comprehensive list of web sites with explanations, and tutorial sites covering most disciplines from Accounting to Visual Basic. A must use site for students.
GED Resource Web Links - Elizabeth Howell's comprehensive list of web sites concerning all aspects of the Pre GED or GED tests.
Mrs. Glosser's Math Goodies - Free educational web site featuring interactive math lessons, homework help, worksheets, and more.
