Foreign Language Resources and Lab

Welcome to the Kent Campus Foreign Language tutoring lab. It is our goal to provide an atmosphere conducive to an optimum level of learning. Spanish, French and Chinese tutors are provided for students’ convenience. Additionally, students have written, audio and computer resources in the tutoring lab in C-122A. Schedules are posted in the lab and copies are available upon request. Foreign language classes meet once a week in C-222 for scheduled-class lab time.

Lab Resources
We offer a wide variety of cassettes for your use and duplication. If you need a copy of a tape for home use, please label the cassette clearly with your name and title requested. Videos are also available to aid with comprehension. Conversation Group
Small group conversations are encouraged among tutors and students in the lab. Students may request a scheduled time for a conversation review as determined by tutors and students schedules.
Required Lab Hours
It is important to note that foreign language students must be present in the foreign language lab or adjacent area in order to receive credit for the time they have completed. Students must be studying a foreign language while checked in to the computer. To receive credit, students should always ask student assistants or staff to check them into the computer sign in program. If a student forgets to check out, the time is deleted. After having exceeded the minimum amount of hours required (12.5 hours), please continue to check in for statistics purposes. The last day to check into the Kent campus language lab will be posted each term. Pronunciation practice is encouraged, keeping in mind minimal volume so as to not disturb students around you. Please be aware that snacks and covered drinks are allowed in the lab; however, please take care to help us maintain the area.
