Reading Resources and Lab

Welcome to the reading lab. The schedule for the reading tutor, Ryan Reid, is posted in the Learning Center and available for students. Tutoring is available to students in reading classes and to those students wishing to improve their reading skills regarding any college textbook. Among other skills, learn how to recognize the main idea of a selection and how to pinpoint the important details within a text.

These handouts are located on the revolving literature rack located in the English lab area.

Tutoring Resources
Free personal one-on-one tutoring from a professional reading tutor (no appointment necessary):
  • Online reading review of all major skills through www.myskillstutor.com
  • Computer Mastery Tests which correlate with the Improving/Advancing Reading Skills texts
  • Instructional books and tapes covering basic skills: main idea, inferences and judgments, bias, tone, vocabulary, etc.
