Adult Education

Spotlight on Outstanding GED and ABE Student

Prella Hollie is an example of a young man who keeps his eye on his goal. Since he was a child, he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and work with the Duval County Fire Department.

When he registered for adult education classes, he realized that he would need additional math help. He completed the adult basic education math classes in record time and worked diligently preparing for the GED examination.

He passed the GED test and immediately enrolled in the First Responders course. In one short year he has completed his EMT training and has applied to the fire academy.

He is the recipient of the Julian and Grace Hightower scholarship which will assist him as he works to obtain Florida Community College's new Bachelor of Applied Science in Fire Science.

Congratulations to this outstanding student!
