Getting Started

Here is everything you need to get started in our CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education Program.  Information is embedded below and attachments are included for your review.  Please review the CFP Board of Standards Guide to Certification (PDF) for a summary of the credential and pay particular attention to four components – (education, examination, experience and ethics.) The Florida State College at Jacksonville Continuing Education application is attached.  To register for the course, either go online to complete an application via Artemis OR fax the completed Florida State College at Jacksonville Continuing Education Registration Form to 904.381.3778.

Course Offerings:

The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education Program is comprised of six modules.  You may begin the program with FP I (MED 0100) Fundamentals of Financial Planning or FP II (MED 0101) Risk Management/Insurance Planning.  Note: FP I is a pre-requisite for FP III, FP IV, FP V and FP VI.  Each module runs for 10 weeks and classes meet weekly 4:30-7:30 p.m.  Attendance is necessary to master the material.  Attendance at the exam is mandatory and you need to pass each course with a C or better.  We recommend that you take one course at a time because we want you to succeed. NOTE:  In addition to a 3-hour class, plan to spend an additional 10-15 hours weekly on homework.  We recommend one graduate-level CFP module per quarter as follows:
