New Insurance Courses

The Florida Community College’s Insurance Academy is pleased to offer three online pre-licensing classes approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services (FLSFS).

Life Insurance Marketing Class

The Life Insurance Marketing class which provides pre-licensure training for the State test leading to a Life, Health and Variable Annuity (2-15) license. For additional information about this license go to FCCJ’s catalog or the FLDFS Web site. To apply for the State license go to State’s Web site.

Textbook

The required textbook for the online course is The Florida Life, Health, and Variable Annuity Study Manual, 22nd Edition and can be purchased online through our College bookstore, through the publisher or by calling 850.422.1701. You might also check with your local community college or university.

Registered Customer Service Representative (RCSR) and Accredited Claims Adjuster (ACA)

The Registered Customer Service Representative (RCSR) leading to a (4-40) license. For additional State information about this license go to FCCJ’s catalog or the Florida Department of Financial Services Web site and;

The Accredited Claims Adjuster (ACA) class leading to a 5-20 or 6-20 license. For additional State information about this license go to FCCJ’s catalog or the FLDFS Web site - 5-20 or 6-20. Successful completion of either the Registered Customer Service Representative RCSR or Accredited Claims Adjuster ACA course plus the end-of-class exam exempts the student from having to take the State exam. The online class is up to three weeks long and is entirely online including the final exam. The beauty of this course is that if you choose to complete the course quickly, you will receive your certificate within a week and you will not have to wait for the rest of the class to finish.

Once you receive your certificate you will need to apply for your license with the FLDFS, send your certificate (keep a copy), electronic fingerprints and license fees. On the application check yes that you have one of the listed “designations”, either ACA or RCSR which is what exempts you from the State test and from the testing fee. For more information about the applications to the State, see the State’s Web site or call 850.413.3137. Another helpful Web site is the United States Department of Labor. Click on Occupational Handbook and search alphabetically for job information. A high school diploma or GED is not required to take this course or to get licensed.

Textbook

The required textbook for the online courses is The Florida General Lines Agent and Customer Representative Study Manual, 16th Edition and can be purchased online through our College bookstore, or through the publisher by contacting the Florida Association of Insurance Agents. You may also reach them at 850.893.4155. You might also check with your local community college or university. Do not get the adjusters study manual.
