Real Estate

As Florida and the Jacksonville area continue to grow in population, the real estate market continues to boom. This means significant job opportunities for real estate sales agents, real estate brokers, mortgage brokers and appraisers. If you are looking for a career where you can use your sales talent, have lots of autonomy and enjoy excellent earning’s potential, consider the field of real estate.

For those wanting to enter the field, Florida Community College offers a pre- and post-licensing real estate program to prepare you for State exams. We also offer pre-licensing for mortgage brokers and pre-licensing for appraisers as well as career enrichment classes in these fields.

Florida Community College can help you meet all education requirements for your real estate career. Our programs and courses meet requirements set by the Florida Real Estate Commission and use Commission-approved final exams.

Pre-Licensing

Real Estate Sales Agent – 63 classroom hours – REE 0047
Real Estate Broker – 72 classroom hours – REE 0802

Mortgage Broker – 24 classroom hours – REE 0271

In the mortgage broker class you will learn everything needed to pass the state exam including applying mortgage lending principles to practical situations. The State application information is found at the Florida Office Financial Regulation web site. The State must have the completed application by the 15th of the month prior to your desired test date. Students are encouraged to register for the State test prior to registration of our course. This will enable you to finish our course on a Sunday and take the State exam on the following Tuesday. State-mandated hours are enforced; therefore, no missed time is allowed. Required course hours are strictly enforced. Please bring a calculator with you to class.

Registered Trainee Appraisers – 85 classroom hours – MED 0656

This DBPR State approved 85 hour course consists of three modules needed for a Florida Real Estate Appraisal Trainee’s License, based on the 2008 Core Curriculum Requirements of the Appraisal Foundation and covers The Basic Appraisal Principals (Module 1) 30 Hours, Basic Appraisal Procedures (Module 2) 30 Hours, and Residential Report Writing and Case Studies; Florida Statutes, Rules, Regulations; Supervisor/Trainee Relationship; Fair Housing Act and FIRREA; (Module 3) 25 Hours. This course along with the 15 hour CWK 0075 National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course completes the 100 hours needed for the trainee’s license. No more than 8 hours of absences overall are permitted and still be eligible for the final exam. For more in-depth information about the class and books required call 904.381-3555.

Certified Residential Appraiser – 110 classroom hours – CWK 0074

This DBPR State approved 110 hour course consists of six modules needed for a Florida Real Estate Appraisal Certified Residential License, based on the 2008 Core Curriculum Requirements of the Appraisal Foundation and covers Market Analysis and Highest & Best Use (Module 1) 15 Hours, Residential Site Valuation & Cost Approach (Module 2) 15 Hours, Residential Sales Comparison & Income Approach; (Module 3) 30 Hours, Statistics Modeling & Finance (Module 4) 15 Hours, Advanced Residential Applications & Case Studies (Module 5) 15 Hours, and Mastering Unique & Complex Property Appraisal (Module 6) 20 Hours. This course completes the 110 hour minimum requirement needed for the Florida Certified Residential Appraiser license. No more than 11 hours absence overall are permitted and still be eligible for the final exam. For more in-depth information about the class and books required call 904.381-3555.

Career Enrichment

Uniformed Standards of Professional Appraiser Practices (USPAP) – 15 classroom hours – CWK 0075


Mortgage Origination and Conventional Processing – 45 classroom hours – CWK 0053

This course is designed to introduce new loan processors, loan officers and licensed brokers to the mortgage banking industry. An overview of the loan cycle and sales techniques will be introduced and discussed. Additionally, this course has been approved for 14 hours' continuing education (CE) requirements for loan officers and licensed mortgage brokers including four hours covering CH 494 F.S. upon request of those needing CE hours.

Real Estate Sales Post-Licensing – 45 classroom hours - MED 0606
