Articulation Development

Florida Community College has many formal articulation agreements with public and private baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. Generally these agreements are from program of study to a specific major at the upper division. Florida Community College also has some general agreements for the transfer of all associate arts (A.A.) and associate science (A.S.) and in some cases applied associate science (A.A.S.) degree students. Each agreement is unique and specifies criteria that must be met to ensure transfer at the junior status level, such as associate’s degree grade point average, prerequisite coursework, etc.

Development of articulations involves negotiations between articulation and program staff at Florida Community College and the college or university of interest. The process includes development of a draft agreement with academic program representatives; review by Florida Community College articulation committee, curriculum services and associate vice presidents; examination by legal counsel; and approval by Dr. Maggie Cabral-Maly, Articulation Officer and Dr. Steven Wallace, College President. Once an agreement is signed there are a series of internal communication pieces that are disseminated via campus mail, email, and web page. The articulation process can sometimes take several months to occur, from the initial negotiations to final signature stage, especially if a draft agreement does not match the curriculum in an existing Florida Community College associates degree program.

To initiate an articulation agreement, The attached document shows the entire list of specific steps of the articulation process at Florida Community College.

  • Identified pathway (Florida Community College degree, university, and major)
  • Number of students or potential number of students in program of study at Florida Community College
  • Current enrollment in associate arts (A.A.) Intended Major or associate science (A.S.) program of study at Florida Community College
  • Is the degree for occupations in a new, high demand or expanding career field?
  • Is there an existing high transfer rate from Florida Community College to this university
  • Is this a local institution or one on the priority list?
  • Is this an institution with which we already have a partnership?
  • Is the bachelor’s degree coursework available via distance learning?
  • Has the university expressed an interest and initiated articulation discussions with your program?
  • What Florida Community College departments/programs does this agreement affect?
  • Is there an existing military education MOU or contract for this program or with this institution?
  • Other related information
