Project Renaissance - A Medical Model of Intervention to Promote Student Success for Under-prepared Students
Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
Florida Community College at Jacksonville
is proud to present our Quality Enhancement Plan
(QEP). Our plan is focused on one of the greatest challenges
encountered by all community colleges - facilitating the success
of students with academic skill deficiencies. The retention
and graduation rates of these often talented "at-risk" students
are simply too low. Accordingly, our College has committed
to better addressing the unique needs of this diverse and important
student population. Enhanced understanding, innovation
and collaborative intervention lie at the heart of our QEP
effort. The plan involves Collegewide participation through
a unique "medical model" approach which is now driving 45 ongoing
academic and support initiatives to improve the success of
students who are placed in college preparatory (remedial) classes.
The plan has three major goals:
- Increase the fall-to-fall retention rate
of our college preparatory students;
- Increase the success rates of college preparatory
students; and,
- Increase the program completion rate of
college preparatory students.
