Placement Specialist

Job Placement Services, located in the Career Development Center, provides assistance in placing students in on and off campus jobs. It is our goal to ensure students are afforded the opportunity to gain meaningful employment while attending FCCJ as well as upon graduation. Additionally, Job Placement provides assistance in all aspects of employability skills such as, resume writing, interviewing skills, job trends, local labor market and job keeping skills.

On Campus Employment
The North Campus provides meaningful work experience opportunities for currently enrolled students. Students who meet eligibility requirements may be interviewed and selected for positions that may relate to their program of study. In order to be eligible to apply for an on campus student employee position, students must meet the college's Standards of Progress and must apply for Financial Aid. Additionally, students must:
1. Complete a Student Employment Application
2. Be enrolled in at least six college credit hours or 12 weekly contact credit hours as a non-college credit student.
3. Photo Identification
4. Social Security Card

Steps to On-Campus Employment
1. Meet with Student Employment Coordinator in CDC to verify eligibility and receive an employment eligibility form that is to be presented to supervisors.
2. Review a listing of available positions that are posted in the CDC or on-line at www.collegecentralnetwork.com/fccjnorth.
3. Interview wit h the supervisor in the department in which you are interested.
4. If hired, return to the CDC (with completed recommendation and work schedule that the hiring supervisor will give to you) to complete paperwork.
5. Attend new student worker orientation.
6. Once supervisor has received official notification of the date you may start, you
may begin working.

Off Campus Employment
FCCJ provides free placement services to the Jacksonville business community. Area employers may list current job openings with Job Placement Services at no charge at www.collegecentral.com/fccj/. Currently enrolled students and alumni are welcome to use Job Placement Services when seeking employment.

Internships
Many of FCCJ's programs offer internships as part of their curriculum. Internships may be salaried as well as being a course requirement. For specific information relating to a particular program, please check with the Program Advisor.
