assistance in passing the word to students about our services.
As you refer students to us, it may be helpful to understand what
we do! We assist students in all phases of the career planning
process. Typical questions that might lead a student to us include:
How do my interests connect to majors and career fields?
Is my résumé employer ready?
Where can I take a career "test" ?
What careers are out there?
What types of questions should I expect during an interview?
How do I find a job while I'm in school?

Class Presentations
If you would like to bring your class to the
CDC regarding a career related topic, please contact us. Currently,
we can present information on the following:
Résumé Writing - The résumé is an
important tool in the career planning process. This presentation
will cover the "nuts and bolts" of résumé
development.
Interviewing Skills - Preparation is the key
to successful interviewing. This presentation will cover tips
for interviewing success.

schedule an appointment to discuss your career goals. May include
career assessment.
Career Library
- extensive collection of print material, videos, cd-roms, etc.
Valuable research tools in the career planning process.
Résumé
Preparation Assistance - available in the CDC via software,
computers, books and workshops
Résumé
Critiques - Bring your formatted,
word-processed résumé to the CDC for a "test-drive"
before sending it to employers. Contact the CDC for
appointment.
Job Placement Assistance
- for AS, AAS and technical certificate students. Available by
appointment with the employment specialist. Contact the CDC to
schedule an appointment.
Workshops
- offered on an on-going basis during the year. current topics
include: résumé writing, interviewing skills and
career planning. Check the workshop schedule in the Student Services Office for dates,
times and offerings.
Student Employment
- looking for a job on-campus? Visit our job center for available
listings.
Job Listings
- job ads are received on a daily basis from local employers wishing
to hire Florida State College at Jacksonville students for full-time and part-time positions. Visit
the job center for listings.
Practice Interviews
- "Practice Makes Perfect". Virtual interview software
and mock interviews are available to help you put your best foot
forward in an interview.
On-Campus Recruitment
- where we bring employers to you! We arrange campus visits by
local employers looking for full and part time employees. Contact
the CDC for information about upcoming visits.
Career Planning
Class- this is a self-paced information gathering process
designed for students who have not decided, are having difficulty
deciding, or need clarification in making a career choice.
Job Fairs -
held periodically. Check the CDC for dates.
Career Forums
- Spotlight on Careers Series. Gain inside information about occupations
from practitioners, faculty and/or local employers. Offered once
a month fall and spring.
