Special Events
Socrates Café is held at South Campus, U-153. As always, the Café is open to all students, faculty, staff, and guests (even well-behaved administrators). “What is wonder? What is wondering out loud? Is it the same as marveling? Does marveling differ from the marvelous? Would you like to explore such ideas and others like story, responsibility, community, health, well being, smart, secure, courage, and heart? This term, you can!
The discussions will be led by Chris Twiggs from the Communications Department. The discussions will be informal idea/philosophy exchanges modeled on the Socratic method as practiced by Christopher Phillips, the founder and champion of the Socrates Café movement (see his book, “Socrates Café: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy,” or see his web site, (www.philosopher.org).
The full list of spring dates for the Socrates Café is available at http://www1.fccj.edu/ctwiggs/socrates.htm.
