Head Coach: Jami Lind

Head Coach Jami Lind will begin her 22nd season as the Head Coach at FCCJ where she has compiled an 889–354 won loss record including qualifying for post–season play in 18 of her 21 seasons. That includes a run of nine straight state tournament appearances. During that stretch FCCJ has been one of top ranked teams in the state of Florida every year and been ranked or recognized nationally in each of those seasons. Additionally 100 percent of the team’s sophomores graduated as is the norm at FCCJ. The Stars typically have a team GPA of over 3.0 and put the most players in the state on the academic All State team. Lind takes academics as seriously the athletic side of things and the team also participates in several community service projects each year.

Lind is a graduate of Flagler College in St Augustine where she earned 12 letters in volleyball, basketball and softball during her playing career. In March of 2004 she was inducted into the inaugural class for the Flagler College athletic Hall of Fame. In her ASA and USSSA playing career she was a part of 9 national championship teams and named All American 19 times, including two MVP awards at the National Tournament. She is now an avid golfer and in fact met her husband, Jeff, on the golf course. They were married in 2004 and currently reside in St. Augustine.

While still very competitive, Lind very much believes in developing her players into all around student–athletes, excelling in the classroom, the community and on the ballfield. She is a strong believer in working hard on team chemistry and setting and working toward both individual and team goals. While loving to win she definitely defines success in more ways than the won–loss record, taking pride in the team’s graduation rate and the number of softball alumni currently playing at four year schools and those that have gone on and are working in many different fields in many parts of the country.

Assistant Coach: Jay Redfern

Assistant Coach Jay Redfern starts his 7th season with the Stars. His primary duty is as pitching coach where once again the team had one of the top pitching staffs in the country. With two freshman and one sophomore pitcher the team compiled a 1.13 ERA, combined on 23 shutouts and recorded 396 strike outs while giving up 108 walks. He is also an excellent hitting coach and is involved with game day decisions as well. With his knowledge and ability to relate with the girls he has become an invaluable asset to the FCCJ softball program.

He has developed most of the top pitchers in the Jacksonville, northeast Florida area, several of who had or are currently pitching in college and several of the top high school pitchers in the state. Redfern works civil service with the Navy. He is married to wife, Terri, a registered nurse and has two children.

Assistant Coach: Lauren Redfern

Assistant Coach Lauren Redfern starts her second season with the team. She is the daughter of Jay and is a recent graduate of Jacksonville University where she earned ESPN The Magazine All American honors during her senior year. Lauren was the NCAA leader in doubles as well that year. She played first base and catcher for Jacksonville University as she did for FCCJ where she started her collegiate career. She is a local graduate of Sandalwood High School.

Lauren brought a lot of energy and intensity with her last year as well as a great deal of knowledge. Due to her recent playing experience she was able to relate well with the girls and add a different perspective, strengthening the coaching staff. In addition to working with the catchers, hitters and assisting with the infielders she handled a lot of the conditioning. Lauren also believes in devloping the total student–athlete and in the lessons learned off of the field as well as on it.
