FCCU0101   Orion 101  
Items covered in this workshop will include login, logout, basic navigation skills and shortcut tips. An introduction to Artemis and its relation to Orion will be discussed. Also, included will be information for Orion users who will be admitting students and registering them for classes. The new user will be introduced to the proper screens for looking up and inputting information to admit and register students. The importance of inputting correct information for state reports will be stressed.

Understanding Orion's Course Dictionary is the key to understanding the student side of Orion. Take a journey with us as we tie each piece of the Orion puzzle back to the Course Dictionary.

FCCU0130   Orion Encoding   College Credit   Prerequisite: Attend Orion 101 workshop.
This workshop will provide step-by-step instructions for encoding college credit classes. Also covered is Instructor Resource Management (IRM) procedures.

FCCU0131   Orion Encoding   CWE/Non-Credit   Prerequisite: Attend Orion 101 workshop.
This workshop will provide step-by-step instructions for encoding non-credit classes. Topics also covered: 1) Flat Fee Billing and Special Fee calculations, 2) How to determine the 100% Refund and Earliest Drop for Non-Payment Dates, and Instructor Resource Management (IRM) procedures.

FCCU0160   Orion Batch Reports
There are reports in Orion which provide class, student and program data. This workshop will instruct you on which reports you need to gather the data. Attendees should come with a list of needs. An example would be to find out which instructors need to input final grades. Prerequisites: Orion 101 and experience with Excel and Word.

FCCU0161   Orion Q Class Batch Reports
Q class is a function of Orion which permits you to gather data about student enrollments in FCCJ classes. The data can then be transferred to an Excel spreadsheet or Word document. An example would be determining how many students are registered in PSY1012. Prerequisites: Orion 101 and experience in Excel and Word. (It would be helpful to have attended Orion admissions and Orion registration, Excel and Word training.)

FCCU0162   Orion Q Class Online   Prerequisite: Attend Orion 101 workshop and Orion Course Dictionary.
This workshop is designed to introduce the Orion user to Q Class reports. Items covered will include the Orion screens and specific criteria required to run the reports.

FCCU0163   Orion GAP Reports   Prerequisites: Orion 101 and experience with Excel and Word.
Have you ever needed a list of your students in your program? Have you ever needed a list of students enrolled in prep classes at a certain campus? Sign up for this session and learn not only how to get these lists and more. This workshop is a must for everyone who has ever needed a list of students.

FCCU0180   Orion Registration   Prerequisite: Attend Orion 101 workshop
This workshop will cover registration processes such as: add, drop, withdrawals, reinstatements, registration error codes, override and security level processes. This workshop will also provide an overview of Artemis online Registration processes.

FCCU1001   Windows XP
Topics will include creating, deleting, copying, and moving files and folders. Also discussed will be file and folder properties, file types, searching for files, and configuring your Desktop. Both My Computer and Windows Explorer will be used to demonstrate file and folder operations

FCCU1005   IP Phone
Do you have a new Cisco IP phone? Are you curious about how to retrieve messages, transfer calls, use the hold function, conduct a conference call, among many other functions? Then please be sure to attend this hands-on session in which you learn a variety of tips for using your IP phone.

FCCU1010   Access 2003
This workshop will provide an introduction to Access 2003. Topics include creating a database, creating a table in the Design View, creating a table using the Table Wizard, creating a table using the Database Wizard, and editing tables. Learners will also create basic queries and basic forms and learn how to create and print basic reports.

FCCU1011   Advanced Access 2003
This seminar teaches advanced techniques such as: querying with SQL; using crosstab, parameter, and action queries; creating and running macros; importing, exporting, and linking database objects; optimizing, replicating, and synchronizing databases; and basic database security.

FCCU1020   Excel 2003
Topics covered will include creating an electronic spreadsheet by entering data, formulas and functions, formatting the data, printing, freezing titles and headings, sorting, protecting cells, using the AutoFormat, and creating all types of charts. Creating a grade book by copying and pasting from Artemis class rolls will be demonstrated.

FCCU1021   Advanced Excel 2003
In this workshop topics include formulas, lookups and data tables; advanced list management, pivot tables, exporting and importing data, analytical options, macros and more.

FCCU1030   PowerPoint 2003
Topics covered will include creating a blank presentation, navigating through slides, using slide transitions and slide backgrounds, using different views, changing the format and size of bullets, saving and printing a presentation. Topics also covered will include the slide and title master, headers and footers, using animation, linking to a Web site, adding audio and video, creating an organization chart, and putting a presentation on the Web.

FCCU1031   Advanced PowerPoint 2003
This workshop explores advanced-level functions and features of PowerPoint 2003. You will learn how to create and modify templates, build a custom slide master, and insert multimedia elements. You will also learn advanced techniques for working with charts, tables, clip art, and drawing tools.

FCCU1040   Word 2003
Topics discussed will include entering text, spell checking and thesaurus, setting margins and tabs, using cut, copy, delete, and paste, formatting text, printing, using headers and footers, page numbering, and using columns, tables and graphics.

FCCU1041   Advanced Word 2003
This workshop explores advanced-level functions and features of Word 2003. You will learn how to perform a mail merge, create and modify forms, work with large documents, and create macros. You will also learn how to customize menus and toolbars, and work with Word's editing functions.

FCCU1050   Outlook 2003
This workshop is designed to introduce attendees to the electronic mail (e-mail) system supported by FCCJ. Topics covered include settings options, sending and receiving messages, using the Address Book and Contacts, using the Calendar, using the Journal and using Notes.

FCCU1060   FrontPage
This workshop is designed to teach attendees how to create a web site using FrontPage 2003. The web site would then published on the FrontPage server.

FCCU1201   Blackboard Basics
Topics covered will include logging on to Blackboard, overview of web resources, announcements, the calendar, tasks, staff information and changing course settings. Participants will also explore managing students and communication tools such as e-mail, discussions and the virtual classroom. Additionally participants will learn how to covert existing course documents into Blackboard, how to zip files and how to add course information to their Blackboard course including how to create and administer quizzes and how to use the grade book

FCCU1210   Blackboard Advanced Features Topics covered include learning units, advanced grade book features, SCORM complaint content and advanced tools available in Blackboard

FCCU1220   Blackboard New Features
Participants will learn about the new features in Blackboard release 6.3 such as adaptive release, performance dashboard and advanced assessment options.

FCCU1230   Respondus for Blackboard
Participants will learn how to use Respondus, a tool for creating and managing assessments directly in Blackboard. Respondus also allows users to extract exams and test pools from Blackboard and import them into Blackboard. These sections will be face to face. Please register for only one section.

FCCU1240   Wimba
Increase online interaction with these engaging voice tools. Wimba is a set of voice tools that can be used with Blackboard synchronously and asynchronously. The tools include voice chats, voice discussion boards, voice announcements, and voice email. All of these tools work within the Blackboard environment and help to engage students in the learning process.

FCCU1400   Dreamweaver MX 2004
This workshop is designed to teach attendees how to create a Web site using Dreamweaver MX 2004. The Web site is then published to the Web server.

FCCU1410   Introduction to Image Editing
This workshop is intended to develop some basic skills in working with digital images. Learn how to change the dimensions of an image, how to reduce the file size without changing the dimensions of an image, and how to crop an image removing unwanted background. GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) will be used for editing the digital images and is a freely distributed software application.

FCCU1500   Lesson Builder (Version 3.0)
In this workshop, participants will learn how to easily and quickly create professional-looking interactive lessons for e-learning courses. Learn how to add interactivity, such as pop-up text notations, self-assessment quizzes, and interactive learning games to mention a few. Participants will also learn how to package lessons for delivery via CD-ROM, Intranet or Internet.

FCCU1550   Captivate
Learn how to create professional-quality simulations and demonstrations complete with text captions, mouse movements and scored interactions — all without programming. You can easily edit and customize projects, or add eLearning interactions in this easy-to-use program. Great for tutorials, demonstrations and simulations.

FCCU2010   Developing Your Departmental Web Site   Prerequisite: Dreamweaver MX.
Learn how to develop an engaging web presence for your department and keep it up to date. Participants in this workshop will learn how to plan and maintain their departments’ web pages using a variety of tools. Learn the guidelines required for working within the FCCJ web style and unlock the channels for getting your information posted.

FCCU2050   Software Presentation (Staff)
Stop by at your convenience and see the newest in software available for staff at FCCJ like Macromedia Suite, Captivate, Digital Image Editing, and more. Ask questions and get answers regarding your software needs like Windows XP, MS Outlook, MS Word, etc. This session is informal and is designed as a drop in session. No pre-registration is required.

FCCU2580   Instructional Design Assistant
This workshop will provide an overview and introduction to the Sirius Instructional Design Assistant (IDA). The Sirius Instructional Design Assistant is a software program that guides you through the process of instructional design using the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation) model to assist in creating pedagogically sound courses. Using this systematic approach, it guides the instructor to creating a course syllabus and more. The key advantage of using IDA is its simplicity. Using prompts and tools, it guides the instructor through the process of creating a course that will enhance the learning environment for the instructor and the students.

FCCU2590   Turnitin and Plagiarism Detection
Turnitin prevents and detects plagiarism by comparing submitted papers to billions of pages of content located on the Internet and proprietary databases. The results of the comparisons are compiled, one for each paper submitted, in custom “Originality Reports.”

FCCU3010   Classroom Management Series
This course provides faculty with an orientation to the resources available through the College to support course design and teaching. It covers the services provided by the following areas: Libraries, Learning Centers, Assessment Centers, Professional Development, Organizational Learning Services, Virtual College, ARTEMIS and Human Resources. To receive credit under a certificate program, this course must be completed following completion of the other required courses.

FCCU3100   Applying Learning Research to Create Optimum Learning Environments
In this module, we’ll present research findings regarding the roles of attention, contiguity, reinforcement and practice in learning. The module examines cognitive theory, including constructivism, information processing and social cognitive theory and stresses their practical real-world applications in the higher education learning environment. This module is divided into chapters which will contain an overview, learning objectives, instructional content, examples, and a number of reflect/discuss items for online threaded discussions among learners. Chat sessions may also be held periodically. A capstone activity is required at the end of the final chapter. The assignments and capstone activity require learners to apply course content to one of their own or proposed future courses. These activities essentially provide the assessment for the course. (12 hours)

FCCU3200   Applying Motivation Research to Create Optimum Learning Environments
This module draws on research from various fields, including neurophysiology, neuropsychology, TV commercial advertising, and multiple intelligence theory, to present teaching tools to motivate learners in both face-to-face and online classes. It presents approaches that are designed to engage and immerse learners including humor, music, physical demonstrations, skits, and other innovative techniques to challenge their higher order cognitive abilities and creativity. This module is divided into chapters which will contain an overview, learning objectives, instructional content, examples, and a number of reflect/discuss items for online threaded discussions among learners. Chat sessions may also be held periodically. A capstone activity is required at the end of the final chapter. FCCU3300   Developing Interactive Blended Courses
This fully online course takes participants from the traditional face-to-face teaching and learning environment to the pedagogy of teaching blended (hybrid) courses. The course emphasizes uses of the Internet (Web-based resources, e-mail, listservs, chat groups and other tools) to support face-to-face classroom activities through appropriate pedagogical approaches, such as interactive, constructivist and cooperative learning, and the use of learning communities. FCCU3400   Developing Interactive Web-Based Courses
In this fully online course, participants will examine various methods of applying learning and motivation research and theory to the development and teaching of online courses. Concepts to be examined include instructional design, cooperative learning, constructivist learning and mastery learning.

Participants will create or modify a syllabus for a course they would like to teach online. (15 hours). For additional information, go to the Faculty Certificate Programs.

FCCU3500   Multimedia
This course provides faculty with an orientation to the resources available through the College to support course design and teaching. It covers the services provided by the following areas: Libraries, Learning Centers, Assessment Centers, Professional Development, Organizational Learning Services, Virtual College, ARTEMIS and Human Resources.

FCCU3900   Capstone
This three-part series will explore the following topics: community college demographics, due process, handling emergencies, motivational theory and practice, cooperative learning, student success and retention, and classroom assessment techniques. Experts will be brought in to address these and other classroom management issues. To receive credit under a certificate program, this course must be completed following completion of the other required courses.

How can we best serve students in person, on the phone, and via email? What can we do to provide excellent service to fellow staff members? How can we help to foster an atmosphere of collegiality and professionalism? Please join us for an interactive session about customer service at the college.

FCCU4020   Enhancing Communication Skills Within the Community College
Learn how to use positive communication to improve your interactions. In this workshop participants will learn how to enrich verbal and non-verbal communication as well as learn some tips on positive phone and email communication.

FCCU4030   How to Get Ahead in the Office
What can you access from the Florida Community College home page that will help you? And, how do you navigate through that online maze? What is Artemis really all about? This workshop, designed primarily for Florida Community College career staff working in campus and Martin Center offices, will emphasize the Web, e-mail, telephone and general “effective practices” to help you succeed in your office position.

FCCU4040   Meeting and Exceeding Departmental Expectations
Participants in this workshop will learn how to meet and exceed the daily demands that are placed on you. Special emphasis will be on prioritizing your work load and tips on how to overachieve without burning out.

FCCU5010   Blood Bourne Pathogens Awareness Training
This training session is intended for employees who are likely to be exposed to potentially infected bodily fluids, including first-aid responders, maintenance personnel, janitorial staff, medical and science lab personnel and any personnel assigned to clean up or could possibly be exposed to body fluids.

Other employees can receive the same training for awareness purposes so they understand that they should not touch blood or bodily fluids, and they understand to whom they should report a spill of blood or bodily fluids so it can be cleaned up correctly.

FCCU5020   Certified CPR and First-Aid
American Red Cross first-aid and CPR program is designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life.

First Aid: Streamlined to fit into busy work schedules, this interactive presentation is ideal for employees who want to learn lifesaving skills, session is packed with information to help employees stay prepared with valuable lifesaving skills.

Adult CPR: For employees who need adult CPR training only, this hands-on skills training prepares participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.

FCCU5030   OSHA Required Hazards Communications
This training session is intended for all employees, but preference will be given to maintenance and security personnel. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to have a written Hazard Communication Plan. The plan demonstrates the employer’s commitment to helping employees work safely with the chemicals that are used in the workplace.

This course will discuss the chemicals in the workplace, how to determine chemical hazards, and how to protect yourself from those hazards.

FCCU6010   Learning Outcomes and Assessment Workshops
Learning Outcomes and Assessment Workshop will provide information about student learning outcomes and classroom assessment strategies to assist faculty in their efforts to improve student success. The workshop will provide faculty with tools for developing their Learning Outcomes and Enhancement Plan (LOEP). Participants will have an opportunity to begin to create a classroom assessment plan during the workshop. This workshop will also help you devise strategies and a step-by-step plan to gather, organize, and make sense of assessment data. Discussions with colleagues will engage us in thinking about how to interpret our findings and use them to make decisions about our day-to-day teaching practice
