Region II Conference 2007

FCCJ hosted the FACC Region II Conference, which was held at the ATC on Sept. 28, 2007. The event was attended by 44 people, from four of the five community colleges in Region II, including North Florida Community College, Lake City Community College, Santa Fe Community College and Florida Community College at Jacksonville.

Manning the basketball concession from North Campus are Preston Hodges (son of Catherine), Kerry Roth, retiree Harry Hodges, Catherine Hodges (no Harry and Catherine, are not related).

Professional Development

Professional development activities include workshops on topics such as the college budget and legislative issues affecting community colleges.

Service

FCCJ Chapter Paints the Town!

On April 26, 2008, the FCCJ Chapter of FACC sponsored a team of 34 faculty, staff, students, family members and friends at the 15th annual Paint the Town! During this event, teams from throughout the community volunteer to help refurbish a selected community. Professor Joe Fowler, who served as the FCCJ Chapter President in 1996, has helped paint the town 11 times!

This year, over 50 organizations with over 1,000 volunteers painted 31 houses in Magnolia Gardens. The team had a great time and the owners of the house we painted, Stephanie Perry and her daughter Morgan, were very appreciative of our efforts!

FACC Vivian Dellinger Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Because FACC members are committed to the success of community college students, we created the FACC Vivian Dellinger Memorial Endowed Scholarship in memory of Professor Vivian Dellinger. Each year, the chapter contributes funds to the endowment at the FCCJ Foundation to support the scholarship and awards it to a deserving student.

2007 Holiday Luncheon

Concession Stand

To raise funds for chapter activities and to help out the athletics department at South Campus, FACC members ran the concession stand during the 2006–07 basketball season. We are now managing the concession stand for the 2007–08 volleyball season. It’s a fun activity and we enjoy watching our athletes! The chapter receives 40 percent of the proceeds at the end of the season.

Spirit of the Season

The 3rd annual “Spirit of the Season” Holiday Party, hosted by FACC on Dec. 1, 2007, was a huge success! The party was sold out, with 168 tickets sold. It was a great evening of dinner, dancing, door prizes and camaraderie. Dr. Wallace and his wife, Amelia, stopped by each table to greet party guests. End of Year Holiday Luncheon

FACC officers and representatives got together for an annual holiday luncheon at River City Brewery to celebrate the accomplishments of the year and pass the torch to the newly elected team. 2007 was a great year for FACC!
