Academic Term Calendar Dates Requiring Action from Adjunct Faculty
Adjunct faculty need to be aware of and closely follow the academic calendar for key dates, such as first day of class, non-attendance (NA) drop, withdrawal deadline, holidays, final exams, etc. Although you need to review the official College calendar, listed below are some of the key date-related events necessitating your action.
For overall first day activities review detailed directions found in the “First Day of Class” link within the WATTS Web pages.
Take roll by checking the official course roster you print from Artemis prior to coming to the first class meeting.
- Students present in class whose names do not appear on the official roster must contact the enrollment services office to correct any problems.
- Students not listed on the official roster should not attend additional class meetings until resolving this problem.
- Instructions for obtaining class rolls in Artemis are as follows:
- Go to the Florida Community College Web site
- Look at Artemis Online Services - select “Employee Log On”
- Log on by typing your FCCJ UserID and Password
- Select “Instructor Schedules”
- Select current academic term
- Select “Class Rolls”
- Print class roll
Confirm accuracy of each student’s declared major from the official roster. Students who want to update their declared major should update the information by completing the Program of Study (POS) form. You can facilitate this process by distributing the POS forms and collecting them following student completion. These completed forms should be sent to your supervisor.
College policy requires instructors to officially drop from the course rolls all students who have not attended a class by the specific NA deadline, occurring early in the academic term. Instructors must complete the NA action even if all students on the roll have attended class.
The current term’s window of dates available for instructors to complete the Non-Attendance action, as well as the process itself, can be found in Artemis by completing the following:
- Go to the Florida Community College home page
- Look at Artemis Online Services - select “Employee Log On”
- Log on by typing your FCCJ UserID and Password
- Select “Instructor Schedules”
- Select current academic term
- Select “Class Rolls”
- Print class roll
- Select “Calendar” under Drop for Non-Attendance to see window of dates
- Select “Available” under Drop for Non-Attendance during the window of dates and complete the NA action
Contact your supervisor if you wish to readmit a student previously withdrawn for Non-Attendance.
Instructors need to follow the official Florida Community College final exam schedule and not arbitrarily decide the date and time of a final exam. This process is standardized in order to ensure students do not experience scheduling conflicts by having exams for different courses scheduled at the same date and time.
A link to the current term’s final exam schedule can be found on the College’s class schedules page.
At the end of the course, instructors will enter student grades during the window of dates prior to the deadline. Students who have stopped participating in the course and whose grade average is an “F” should be assigned an “FN” (Failure for Non-Attendance), with the last date of attendance recorded.
The current term’s window of dates and instructions for entering grades are available by following the directions listed below:
- Go to the Florida Community College home page
- Look at Artemis Online Services - select “Employee Log On”
- Log on by typing your FCCJ UserID and Password
- Select “Grade Input Calendar”
- Select “Grade Input Directions”
- After initially entering grades be sure to select “Submit Grades”
