CSI Summer Camp to offer two sessions at FCCJ Advanced Technology Center: July 7–11 and July 21–25

Popular youth–sleuth camp teaches science and technology used in criminal investigations; early registration suggested

What: “Crime Scene Investigation” summer camp for ages 12–15
When:

Session I: July 7–11, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Session II: July 21–25, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Where:

Florida Community College Advanced Technology Center
401 W. State Street (between Pearl and Broad streets)

Cost: $300 fee includes all supplies, snacks and lunch, additional $50 registration fee

Details: Using the latest Data Security and Bio–Technology information and equipment, along with other tools of forensic science campers will become Youth Crime Scene Investigators. This highly interactive and fun camp will help students to:

  • Develop their ability to use logic and apply strategies to problem solving;
  • Develop analytical and reasoning skills;
  • Form logical explanations about cause–and–effect relationships in investigations;
  • Develop a new appreciation for science and technology.

The CSI campers will examine a “crime scene,” collect evidence, perform analysis, use forensic techniques, extract DNA, identify fibers, explore the field of data security and more. Camp instructors are subject–matter experts from Florida Community College faculty. Additional outside professional resources from: Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, FDLE and the Florida Department of Health will bring their expertise into this fun–packed learning environment.
