Upward Bound students may be eligible for Summer Food Service Program

Enrolled students 18 and under may qualify for free/low–cost meals June 16-July 11

Students enrolled at the Upward Bound Program at Florida Community College during the summer may be eligible for free or low–cost breakfast and lunch if they qualify during the school year.

The following sites will be participating in the Summer Food Service Program for students enrolled in the FCCJ Upward Bound program:

  • Chartwells Cafeteria at UNF, 4567 St. Johns Bluff Rd., Jacksonville, Florida (Breakfast: 7:30–8:30 a.m.; dinner: 5-6 p.m.);
  • Chartwells at FCCJ South Campus, 11901 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida (Lunch: 1–2 p.m.).

Only approved students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program at Florida Community College will be served, as this is a closed site. For more information call 904.713.4546.

Under the Upward Bound program, nutritionally balanced meals are provided at open sites to all children regardless of race, color, sex, disability, age or national origin during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available. All children 18 years old and younger are eligible for meals (at open sites) at no charge and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. The programs are only approved for geographical areas of need where 50 percent or more of the children qualify for free and reduced price meals during the school year.
