Florida Community College Is Offering Three New Personal Enrichment Classes
Florida Community College is offering three personal enrichment Summer Term classes at the Betty P. Cook Nassau Center.
“Genealogy: Tracing Family History,” taught by Marie Santry, will be offered on two Fridays, June 5 and June 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. Students will learn to plan a strategy for exploring their ancestry. Millions of records are available online, and information is now at our fingertips. This course helps sort it all out. Learn where to search and how to create an accurate family tree. Discover useful records from around the world and more. Using free databases, search sites, and accessible government records students will be able to trace their family’s history! Class cost is $59.
“Social/Professional Computer Networking,” taught by Michael Goodman, will be offered on Fridays, June 19 and 26, from 10 a.m. to noon. This course presents a clear look at everything Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter networking has to offer. Students will easily learn specific tasks, such as signing up, networking, shopping, joining groups, finding or filling a job, and a whole lot more. They will discover how to create a page and make connections with other members in no time. Students will learn how to tap into the Social Web and increase their marketing efforts by participating in conversations that yield results. Class cost is $59.
“Grilling-Tips and Tastes,” taught by Chef William Castleberry, will be offered on Wednesday June 24 and Thursday June 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students will learn about grilling basics, rules, and tips for cooking the perfect meal under a blue sky or the stars. Each evening ends with an opportunity to sample the grilling work which will include apple bourbon salmon, shrimp kabobs, chicken, steak and assorted vegetables. Class cost is $45.
