Summer high-school registration June 15-16 for Bethel Baptist, DCPS and FCCJ program
Classes begin June 17 at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church; scholarships available for students from eligible high schools
Registration for summer intervention high school classes at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church will be open June 15 and June 16 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Space is still available for students in grades 9-12 needing another opportunity to obtain passing grades — and high-school credit — toward promotion or graduation. Classes meet Monday through Friday for six weeks, June 17 through July 28, 8 a.m.-noon.
Students register and take a 90-minute pre-placement exam at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church. Pre-placement testing is scheduled for June 15, 16 and 17 at 1 p.m. and June 19 at 9 a.m.
There is a registration fee of $250, payable by money order or certified check only. Scholarships are available for up to 400 students from the following Duval County Public Schools’ high schools: Ed White, Englewood, Forrest, Jackson, Lee, Parker, Peterson, Raines, Randolph, Ribault and Wolfson.
Registrants must bring their report card, Social Security card and a waiver from their school. A parent or guardian must accompany students to registration.
Courses offered include Algebra I-II; Geometry; English I-IV; Earth/Space Science; Biology; Chemistry; and Liberal Arts Math.
FCAT courses, as needed and as approved by DCPS, are also available. Please inquire at registration for details.
This program, in operation since 2003, has a proven success record. Students benefit from a dedicated faculty, individual tutoring by qualified college students, computer-based and classroom instruction, and opportunities for life, social skills and personal skills enhancement.
