Allied health careers in spotlight at Florida Community College this fall
Allied Health Professions Week celebrated nationally November 2-8

It's possible for students to pursue a healthcare career without becoming a doctor or nurse. A career field known as allied health is made up of professionals who perform a wide variety of healthcare services to help doctors and nurses diagnose and heal patients. Programs of study at Florida Community College vary, lasting from months to two years. Students can earn certificates and degrees that can provide a rewarding career or be a stepping stone to an advanced degree. The College is offering a series of free information sessions for those interested in careers in the field of allied health during the months of October and November. The schedule includes:

According to the Health Professions Network, allied health professionals make up about 60 percent of all healthcare providers. They greatly influence health care delivery by supporting, facilitating and complementing the roles of physicians and other healthcare specialists.
