FCCJ Continuing Education is offering classes for homeowners interested in creating professionally designed low-maintenance landscaping. Classes are held at FCCJ South Campus, 11901 Beach Blvd.

Landscape Design for the Homeowner teaches students how to design a customized landscape plan that incorporates native plants, outdoor living spaces, walkways, hedges, flowerbeds, water features, trees and patios. Taught by a professional horticulturist, this course meets on Wednesdays, Feb. 4 – March 3, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuition is $95 and includes a textbook. Spouse may attend free.

Grass Is Always Greener: Year-round Yard Maintenance meets on Mondays, Feb. 23 – March 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This class gives students valuable information on selecting low-maintenance plants that thrive in North Florida's climate. A planting calendar along with tips on how to control pests and weeds without harming the environment will be shared. The cost is $35.

Students may register online at www.fccj.edu, at any FCCJ Enrollment Service Office or by telephone. First-time FCCJ students must complete an application and pay a one-time $15 membership fee.
