Wolfson High School students placed
in “Jeopardy!” on
October 8
Local planners, UNF and Florida Community College offer career
path and scholarship
Wolfson High School students in the school’s Academy of Finance
program will get to show off their financial prowess, earn “funny
money,” win prizes and learn the steps on the path to a career
in financial planning at a special presentation in their classes
on October 8.
In recognition of National Financial Planning Week, Oct. 6-10,
the Jacksonville Chapter of the Financial Planning Association
(FPA), the University of North Florida and Florida Community College
are presenting a program that explains the financial planning programs
offered by each school and how to pursue a career in financial
planning. The plans for a Summer Personal Finance Institute for
Teens will be announced as part of the program.
In addition to explaining the programs and careers available for
students to pursue, the presentation has two additional high points.
First, a new scholarship program sponsored by the Jacksonville
FPA chapter will be announced by representatives from FPA; and
second, students will participate in a game of “Financial
Jeopardy!” to test their knowledge and share it with classmates.
Prize “funny” money will add some interest as the students
can select prizes—and “buy” financial advice
from experts on hand.
The program will be presented to two groups of students at Wolfson
High School, first at 7:15-8:45 a.m. and again from 9-10:30 a.m.
Wolfson High School is located at 7000 Powers Avenue.
