American Management Association and Florida Community College form education alliance
AMA seminars to be available locally in first-ever community college agreement

Florida Community College at Jacksonville, under its Institute for Leadership and Professional Development, has entered into an agreement with American Management Association (AMA) to provide seminars that will lead to AMA certificates in professional management. In this agreement with AMA, Florida Community College at Jacksonville becomes the first college authorized to provide AMA certificates under AMA’s new College and University Seminar Alliance program.

Under the terms of the agreement, the College will provide AMA-approved facilitators and instruction for those seeking AMA seminars and certificates in Finance; Management Essentials; Administrative Excellence; and Project Management. Initial facilitators will be provided by AMA.

“AMA has launched the College and University Seminar Alliance Program to bring the benefits of our proven course content, experienced facilitators and a dynamic, interactive classroom learning model to more people,” said Edward T. Reilly, president and CEO of AMA. “By combining the strengths of each partner—AMA’s seminar content and course leaders, with the venues and local education market knowledge of colleges and universities—each organization will more fully accomplish its educational mission and better serve its constituents.”

“We are excited to be able to provide this level of education to the Jacksonville business community,” said Carol S. Spalding, Open Campus president. “In August, our Institute for Leadership and Professional Development will begin offering twenty-two AMA courses at the College’s Urban Resource Center.”

Initial offerings include “Fundamentals of Finance for Non financials,” (Aug. 17-19); “Improving Your Project Management Skills,” (Aug. 24-26); and “Management Skills for New Managers,” (Aug. 31-Sept. 2). Early registration is recommended.

AMA was recently ranked in the top 20 best open-enrollment executive education programs by Business Week magazine. For more information about upcoming seminars please contact Paul Jensen at 904.633.5932 (pjensen@fccj.edu) or Melissa Chandler at 904.633.8114 (mchandl@fccj.edu).
