Ed White student becomes 125,000th to join Army under college program
A special ceremony at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8 will recognize Ed White High School student Jessica Bradt as she becomes the 125,000th completed referral from the US Army Recruiting Command. She is going to be attending Florida Community College while serving in the Army through the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges’ (SOC) Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP). ConAP is a program employed by Army recruiters to provide potential recruits with a means to continue their education at a local school, while serving in the Army, and is a national model. The future soldier selected Florida Community College as the school she intends to return to upon completion of her enlistment. Army Private Bradt is currently a high school senior who will be going to basic training upon graduation. The ConAP Program Manager will commemorate the 125,000th ConAP participant with a short ceremony and an award plaque.
The recognition ceremony is at 2 p.m. at the College Urban Resource Center, 601 W. State Street, Room 411. For more information contact Mr. Kelly Hermening in Open Campus directly at 904.633.5931 or e-mail: khermeni@fccj.edu.
