Florida Community College to host national patient safety conference May 11
Local, national experts to address patient safety in nursing to improve patient outcomes

The Florida Community College at Jacksonville Department of Nursing will play host to the first patient safety in nursing conference to be offered in the region on May 11 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel, 225 E. Coastline Drive, Jacksonville, from 7:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m.

The College’s inaugural “Excellence in Nursing Conference” will address the critical theme of “Nursing and Patient Safety.” Features of the conference include nationally known speakers in the field of patient safety and nursing; exhibits; and a comprehensive program syllabus. Information provided at the conference is designe

d to be beneficial to those in all fields and specialties of nursing, from students to administrators, including educators and risk managers.

Regarding Continuing Education credits: The program is approved for 6.0 contact hours for nurses through the Florida State Board of Nursing (Provider Number NCE/FBN 3185), of which 2.0 hours meet the biennial requirement for Prevention of Medical Errors.

Early registration for the conference (postmarked by April 22) is $75; registration April 23 or later is $100. Continental breakfast, a networking luncheon and door prizes are included in the registration fee. Registration may be by check or credit card. The Adam’s Mark Hotel will charge $5 per day for hotel garage parking.
