Explore technical theatre careers at Florida Community College March 25
Attend Open House; afterward see Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale” free of charge

Florida Community College is offering an opportunity for those interested in learning about a career in technical theatre to view firsthand, at no cost, some of the magical effects created by those learning backstage crafts. Anyone who attends the Open House from 6-7 p.m. on March 25 is invited to stay and see the opening of “The Winter’s Tale” at 7:30 p.m., performed and produced jointly by Jacksonville University and Florida Community College.

Technical theatre, also known as theatre technology, covers a wide variety of backstage skills necessary to plan and put on any of the shows, concerts and other events in Jacksonville’s many venues, as well as out of town and on the road. Completion of the A.S. degree program prepares students to take the examination for membership in the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).

South Campus is located at 11901 Beach Blvd., just east of St. Johns Bluff Road. For information about the Open House or to R.S.V.P., either call 904.646.2398 or e-mail postholm@fccj.edu.

Florida Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; telephone number 404.679.4501 to award the associate degree.
