Florida Community College appoints director of Advanced Technology Center

The District Board of Trustees of Florida Community College at Jacksonville has approved the appointment of Gary E. Krupa, M.Ed., to the position of director of the Florida Community College Advanced Technology Center. Krupa, who reports to the College September 6, was most recently with Moraine Valley Community College (suburban Chicago) as the director of professional development and technical education.

Krupa has two decades as an educator in public schools, vocational training and professional development, and currently serves on the board of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC), an organization that advocates and promotes the use of technology applications to enhance economic and workforce development programs. He received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University and his M.Ed. in human resources development from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Community College Leadership at Colorado State University. Krupa will report to Downtown Campus President Edythe Abdullah.

The Advanced Technology Center was designed to support four key industry groups: information technology, advanced manufacturing, biotechnology and transportation technology. Additionally, its flexibility allows for quick-response, on-demand training for numerous applications.
