Florida Community College to host national IT Leadership "Value Studio"
Information Technology (IT) chief information officers and chief technology officers -- otherwise known as
CIOs and CTOs respectively -- from Jacksonville and around the country will meet Sept. 14-15 at Florida Community College's
Deerwood Center for an IT "Value Studio," an invitation-only conference for Enterprise IT Executives.
Futurist Thornton May, through his IT Leadership Academy's Value Studio program, will lead about 40
invited participants in "Stories, Storytellers and Storytelling," a summit to review, assess, critique, and praise one
another's IT stories. Value Studio aims to enrich by learning from the past IT forays of others while providing a vision
of what's to come, how to get there, and what it will take to make it happen.
IT has been identified as a critical economic growth market for Jacksonville's future. Florida
Community College's IT Department, under the direction of Rob Rennie, realized that more needed to be done to lift
Jacksonville in the eyes of the IT world. By bringing futurist May, who coined the C-Level moniker CIO in the 1980s,
the IT Leadership Academy, and the Value Studio format to town, Rennie and the College plan to move Jacksonville closer
to its future.
