FCCJ Volunteer Fair to host 30+ non-profits on North and South campuses October 19

What: Florida Community College Volunteer Fair
"Touching Hearts, One Volunteer at a Time"
When: Wednesday, Oct. 19; 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Where: North Campus
   Central Courtyard (by Bldg. D)
   4501 Capper Road, AND
South Campus
   11907 Beach Blvd.

Details: The Florida Community College Volunteer Fair is designed to promote and raise community awareness of volunteerism. It is also a chance for students and others to make arrangements to acquire community service hours. More than 30 non-profit organizations will be in attendance providing first-hand information and literature about volunteer opportunities.

Organizations that will be on hand at North Campus include Family Nurturing Center of Florida; Girl Scouts; I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless; Cummer Museum; Youth Crisis Center; Habitat for Humanity; the Bridge of Northeast Florida; Youth Life Jacksonville; Second Harvest Food Bank; Community Hospice; Salvation Army; Big Brothers/Big Sisters; American Lung Association; American Cancer Society and numerous others. Agencies attending the South Campus fair will include the Museum of Science and History (MOSH), Cummer Museum, Youth Crisis Center, World Relief, The Arc of Jacksonville, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Volunteers in Medicine, Project S.O.S., Sulzbacher Center, Shands Hospital, The Women’s Center of Jacksonville and others. There will also be fun activities to raise funds for the College’s 2005 United Communities Campaign, including an “administrator dunking booth,” jousting and raffles, with prizes such as restaurant gift certificates and Alhambra Dinner Theater tickets.
