“Financial Planning Week” comes to Wolfson High School October 4
Local planners, UNF and Florida Community College offer career and scholarship information

Wolfson High School students in the school’s Academy of Finance program will get to show off their financial prowess and learn the steps on the path to a career in financial services at a special presentation in their classes on October 4.

In recognition of National Financial Planning Week, Oct. 2-8 (as officially proclaimed by Governor Jeb Bush and Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton), the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Northeast Florida, the University of North Florida’s Coggin College of Business and Florida Community College are presenting a student-oriented program. Representatives will explain the financial services programs offered by each school and how to pursue a career in financial services. Additionally, FCCJ Institute for Financial Studies Director Ron Allen will announce the establishment of a Fidelity Investments Scholarship for an FCCJ student pursuing a financial services education along with an update on the FPA scholarship program. Students will also participate in a game of “Financial Jeopardy!” to test their knowledge and share it with classmates.

The program will be presented at Wolfson High School, starting at 7:45 a.m. and ending at 9:30 a.m. Wolfson High School is located at 7000 Powers Avenue.
