Details: Holocaust survivor and philanthropist Henri Landwirth will introduce his film “Gift of Life in America.” Landwirth created the film in the hope that students and others who view it will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for battling modern-day hatred, extremism and bigotry, and that they will be inspired to help those in need. After the 40-minute film, Landwirth will answer questions.

Landwirth spent five years in concentration camps, surviving the final death-march days before the end of the war. Although most of his family had perished at Nazi hands, he was later reunited with his twin sister, who had survived. After the war ended, he left his native Belgium and worked his way to America on a freight ship, arriving with $20 in his pocket. Literally days after his arrival he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served his new country while he learned English. After his tour of duty, he became employed by a hotel chain, and over time worked his way to the top of hotel management. After many years as a successful businessman, he retired, and for the last twenty years, he has devoted himself to improving the lives of others in need. He created two foundations, Give Kids the World and Dignity U Wear. Landwirth has been honored with many humanitarian and philanthropic awards.
