Florida Community College GED/Adult High School graduation May 6:
GED/AHS graduates total more than 2,000 in 2005-2006
City Council President Kevin Hyde to address participating graduates

Details: About 2,040 students earned their GED diplomas through Florida Community College between March 2005 and April 2006, and 45 students will receive their Adult High School diplomas from the College. (Note: not all eligible graduates participate in the ceremony.)

Brief Biography: The Honorable Kevin E. Hyde, President, Jacksonville City Council - At Large, Group 4

Council President Kevin Hyde has lived in Jacksonville since 1988. He serves as President for the 2005-2006 Council year. Hyde is a partner of Foley & Lardner. He practices labor and employment law where he focuses on resolving workplace disputes, counseling employers on employee relations issues and training employees and supervisors. He is certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in the area of labor and employment law. He is also licensed to practice law in Virginia.

Hyde has long been involved in leadership positions with the Florida Bar. He is a past chairman of the Florida Bar Labor and Employment Section. He is listed among employment lawyers in Best Lawyers in America and has been highlighted in Jacksonville Magazine (March 2001) as one of the city’s leading attorneys and in Florida Trend's article “Florida Legal Elite 2005” as one of the state’s leading employment law attorneys. The Jacksonville Business Journal named him as an “Up and Comer” in 2001.

Hyde graduated from the University of Florida College of Law (with honors) in 1988 and received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida (summa cum laude) in 1984. Community activities include deaconship with the Lakeshore Church of Christ since 1992. He served on the Board of Directors for the Youth Crisis Center and the Northeast Florida Safety Council. He served two terms as the President of the Florida 4-H Foundation, the charitable arm of the Florida 4-H program. (Biographical information gathered from the City of Jacksonville web site.)
