DETAILS: This full-length “choreopoem” is by nationally recognized poet/playwright Al
Letson, with Larry Knight Jr. and David Gerard. It runs 85 minutes. Excerpts were performed at campuses and in theatres
in Jacksonville in February as part of African-American History Month; it returns now in full form. Its poetry, drama and
song follow the tradition of storytelling from the ancient Mali Empire through Americas hip-hoppers, successfully
keeping the rhythms of centuries in synch. This production is brought to Jacksonville by local producer/director Barbara
Williams (904.273.4673).
