Details: Geologist Gail Gibson, whose interest in environmental science encompasses over 30 years of examining hurricanes, will discuss why Hurricane Katrina happened, how much damage in human life and property resulted, what is or should be taking place now to rebuild the Gulf Coast, and the dangers Florida faces.
Gibson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Ohio University, a Masters Degree in Geology from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of New Mexico. He is a Licensed Professional Geologist in the State of Florida, a Certified Professional Geologist through the American Institute of Professional Geologists, and a Registered Environmental Professional through the National Registry of Environmental Professionals and International Society of Technical and Environmental Professionals.
Gibson is presently a professor and administrator at Florida Community College.
