FCCJ awarded federal Commercial Motor Vehicle Grant, making $88,000 available for commercial vehicle driving student scholarships
Florida Community College at Jacksonville was recently awarded an $88,000 federal Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Grant to provide scholarships for financially disadvantaged, unemployed or underemployed students. Successful applicants may be eligible to receive $2,200 in scholarship, sufficient to provide tuition and fees for Florida Community College’s Commercial Vehicle Driving program at Cecil Center South. The grant provides up to 50 of these scholarships.
Scholarships are based on financial need. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine if they are financially eligible for scholarships. FAFSA forms are available at local high schools, FCCJ campus enrollment services/financial aid office and online.
Students must have a high-school diploma or GED; pass a drug screen, physical exam and motor vehicle background check prior to beginning classes.
Students who do not qualify for the CMV Grant scholarship may still qualify for a WorkSource scholarship. Prospective students seeking financial aid should call 904.317.3822. For additional information about the program, call 904.997.2822.
