CSI Summer Camp to offer two sessions at FCCJ Advanced Technology Center: June 19-23 and July 16-20

Popular youth-sleuth camp teaches science and technology used in criminal investigations; early registration suggested

What:

“Crime Scene Investigation” summer camp for ages 12-15

When: Session I: June 11-15, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Session II: July 16-20, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where:

Florida Community College Advanced Technology Center
401 W. State St. (between Pearl and Broad streets)

Cost: $350 fee includes all supplies, snacks and lunch
Details:

Using the latest Data Security and Bio-Technology information and equipment, along with other tools of forensic science campers will become Youth Crime Scene Investigators. This highly interactive and fun camp will help students to:

  • Develop their ability to use logic and apply strategies to problem solving;
  • Develop analytical and reasoning skills;
  • Form logical explanations about cause-and-effect relationships in investigations;
  • Develop a new appreciation for science and technology.

The CSI campers will examine a “crime scene,” collect evidence, perform analysis, use forensic techniques, extract DNA, identify fibers, explore the field of data security and more. Camp instructors are subject-matter experts from Florida Community College faculty. Additional outside professional resources from: Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, FDLE, and the Florida Department of Health will bring their expertise into this fun-packed learning environment.
