“Protecting Natural Northeast Florida” inaugural offering in FCCJ Deerwood Center Environmental Preservation series with Marsh Preservation Society
The Deerwood Center at Florida Community College at Jacksonville kicks off its Environmental Preservation Lecture Series Sept. 19 with a presentation by John November, co-founder of the grass-roots Marsh Preservation Society. The Society is dedicated to preserving Northeast Florida’s vital ecosystems and coastal habitats by protecting environmentally sensitive areas with the aid of private and public partnerships.
November, from Atlantic Beach, graduated from Stanton College prep with his International Baccalaureate diploma. He graduated magna cum laude from University of Florida and is attending U.F. Levin College of Law. November is concentrating on environmental and energy law. He is an actively dedicated Northeast Florida preservationist.
The series is a project of FCCJ English Professor Daniel Powell and his English Composition class, presented as a community service. Remaining presenters in the series include Sierra Club of Northeast Florida (Oct. 3); Dr. Gail Gibson, speaking on Global Warming: Its Impact on Our Future (Oct. 17); St. Johns Riverkeeper (Oct. 24); energy expert and recovering “oil addict” Dave McLintock, in an interactive, confessional “Inconvenient Truth” (Nov. 14).
