“Made of Steel”: Brooks Jensen, photographer and LensWork editor, exhibits metalworker photo studies at South Campus Gallery Aug. 27-Sept. 21. Artist reception Sept. 13.

What: “Made of Steel”
A photography exhibit of metalworkers, their tools and their shops by Brooks Jensen, photographer and editor of the renowned photography magazine LensWork.
Jensen will attend a reception at the Gallery Sept. 13
When:

Opening Aug. 27. Artist reception and lecture Sept. 13, 6-8 p.m.
Exhibit closes Sept. 21
Gallery hours: Opens daily Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.;
Closes Mon.-Wed., Fri. at 4 p.m.; Thur. at 7 p.m.
Closed weekends.

Florida Community College at Jacksonville South Campus
Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts

Cost: Free and open to the public.
Details:

Inspired by his grandfather’s love for metal shops and the men who worked in them, Brooks Jensen spent 10 years photographing, collecting and recording the stories of steel workers and machinists as well as their haunts and the tools of their trade. A self-described photographer, designer, typographer, audio engineer, visual and aural artist, Jensen is also the editor of LensWork magazine. Jensen’s exhibit will include podcasts of the narratives to accompany the exhibit.
