Strategic Planning Council
Initiative Proposal Guidelines
Full-time faculty, staff, students, employee groups, and College organizations are
encouraged to submit strategic initiative funding proposals to the Council.
In order to be considered for funding, a proposal should:
- Relate directly and significantly to one or more Collegewide goals
- Involve collaboration with other staff or campuses, if appropriate
- Represent an innovative approach or solution
- Involve an opportunity for significant return on investment
- Have a signed Certification of Proposal (PDF document) from a member of the President's Cabinet
- Contain expenditures beyond a routine budget item
- Have a budget that does not exceed $150,000
Applicants are discouraged from submitting proposals that require:
- Funds for multiple computer workstations and/or furniture
- Ongoing annual funding, including staff salary support
- Facilities renovation
Awardees may not use funds to augment or replace items currently funded out of the
general College budget.
- Discuss your intended project with your campus president or Cabinet member
- Download and complete the application
form. Applicants must use the form provided. The completed form may not exceed five (5) pages. Attachments are
not allowed.
- For your record, save a copy of the completed form.
- Email the completed form to Ida Brown according to submission deadlines
- Review the committee process guide (PDF document)
- Obtain the Cabinet Member's Certification of Proposal (PDF document) before submitting the application
(Applicants who submit the application form online should present a signed Certification
of Proposal from their Cabinet member when they give an oral presentation about the proposal at the Strategic
Planning Council meeting.)
- Plan to attend the next Strategic Planning Council meeting
- Prepare a five-minute presentation of your proposal, and be ready to answer questions
from the committee; the presentation will be timed and you will be asked to stop after five minutes
- You will receive a notice by e-mail, with a copy to the Cabinet member, that your
proposal has been approved for funding
- The approval notification will state the amount designated for the project (maximum $150,000)
- The notice will inform you about what to do after your proposal has been approved:
- How to access the approved funds
- Your approved timeline for completion (maximum two years)
- The deadline for your final report (required of all funded projects)
- Be sure to review the requirements under
the final report in order to have the necessary information at hand by the conclusion of your project
- You will receive a notice by e-mail, with a copy to the campus president, explaining
why your application was not approved for funding.
