Medical Record Transcribing (C001)
  Medical transcriptionists interpret dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribe them into medical reports, correspondence and other records. These two medical transcription courses are designed to provide students with a working knowledge of medical terminology, appropriate formats for transcribing reports, and specialized rules of grammar and punctuation. Students will transcribe actual medical reports based on individual case studies.
  Expected Job Growth: Faster than average
  Starting or Average Salary: $10-$12/hr
  Certification and Licensing:
The skills students learn in the classes assist in preparing them to take the CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist) exam, a voluntary certification offered through the AAMT (Association of Medical Transcriptionists).
  Requirements and Curriculum:
Students should be able to key a minimum of 45 words per minute and must also have word processing experience. Students must take BED 0245 before taking BED 0439, or possess a good foundation in medical terminology and transcription.
