Workforce Certificate

Carpentry (5618)

This program will prepare you for a great job in the carpentry trade. Learn to safely operate hand and power tools; prepare work sites and become skilled in foundation formwork, wall, floor and roof framing, and exterior trim. The hourly wage for carpenters can be well above average. Job opportunities are countless for trained carpenters in new construction, repair and remodeling.

The employment outlook is projected to remain excellent for years to come. Demand for construction of larger homes, starter and second homes, as well as residential, business and industrial complexes will continue to be high. This program teaches essential carpentry skills and offers an optional on-the-job internship, which can help you build on your proficiency and future earnings potential. In addition, if you’re looking to be your own boss, carpentry can provide that opportunity. This program provides exit points for those who wish to specialize in a specific area. Students must complete courses required for each individual exit point.
