Workforce Certificate

Electricity (Construction) (5632)

Connect to a rewarding career as an electrical worker in residences or commercial properties. This program teaches the required entry-level skills to prepare you for eventual advancement to journeyman or master electrician — and excellent earnings. Trained electrical workers are needed everywhere you look: to maintain, repair and install systems in homes, office buildings, factories and other structures. Job opportunities are expected to remain very good.

Among the topics covered are: DC/AC theories; proper selection and use of power and hand tools used in the trade; use of blueprints; National Electrical Code (NEC) in-depth study; wiring techniques; electrical maintenance procedures. The courses offer a significant amount of hands-on training. Approximately 60-70 percent of training experience will be through hands-on situations in the lab and through actual construction projects with the emphasis placed on safety in the lab and on the project site.
