COP 2551 Intermediate Java Programming — 3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: COP 2800 or Java Programming Experience. This course is designed to provide a thorough working knowledge of (Java) programming language. The course is a lecture/lab course designed to be taught in a computer lab. This course starts by reviewing basic Java and object-oriented programming concepts then introduces and explores advanced Java concepts. Topics include stream I/O and random-access file I/O, collection classes, programming graphical user inter-faces for applications using the AWT and Swing APIs, creating applets and JavaBean components. Study for the Sun Java Certification Exam is included in this course. Four contact hours (lecture/ lab combination). A.A., A.S., A.A.S.
