EET 1140 Industrial Electronics — 3 Credit Hours

Prerequisites: EET 1011 and/or EET 1021. This course investigates industrial systems and control techniques. Applications include industrial power supplies, vacuum tubes, magnetic amps, synchro-systems, servomotors, stepping motors, photo devices, temperature systems, motor speed control, three-phase power, digital control and ladder diagrams with emphasis on programmable controllers for industrial control. The course begins with theory and advances to applications and designs using transistors, power transistors, operational amplifiers and field-effect transistors (FETs). Additionally, discussions and lab experiments address linear integrated circuits such as oscillators, timers and other specialized circuits. Emphasis is placed on biasing, troubleshooting, and testing of transistors and op-amp circuits. Four contact hours: three lecture hours, one laboratory hour. A.S., A.A.S.
